Office Hysteroscopy Q & A

What is a hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy procedure enables your doctor to examine the inside of your uterus. It’s used to check for, and in some cases treat, causes of abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).

The procedure can be used to examine the lining of your womb and take biopsy samples to check for abnormal cells, and conditions such as:

  • Endometrial hyperplasia
  • Benign structural lesions
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome

How does EndoSee work?

The physicians at Associates in Women’s Health use the innovative EndoSee device to perform an in-office diagnostic hysteroscopy.

EndoSee is a portable, lightweight, handheld, office hysteroscope that makes the procedure more comfortable, quicker, and allows your doctor to take still images and video footage of the inside of your uterus.

In some cases, anti-anxiety medication might be necessary, but most patients find the procedure to be of little or no discomfort.

The device has a light and camera attached to a small, slender cannula that’s less than 5mm in diameter. The cannula is connected to a small handheld camera monitor. Your doctor carefully inserts the flexible cannula into your vagina.

Saline solution is then infused into the cervical and uterine cavity for dilation and optimal vision. Your doctor then uses the device to take pictures and video. If necessary, they can do a biopsy at the same time.

After your procedure, or at your follow-up visit, your doctor can show you some of the footage and pictures of the inside of your uterus to help you get a better idea of your condition.

What are the benefits of a hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy can reveal abnormal cells and cancerous cells in the early stages when it’s easier to treat.

The EndoSee device makes hysteroscopy procedures quicker and more comfortable than ever before and offers fast results. Now, you don’t have to visit an outpatient center, and can undergo an effective hysteroscopy in the Associates in Women’s Health office in Cincinnati, Ohio.
